Reports To: School Principals
Job Purpose
The Social Worker is responsible for supporting students’ emotional, and behavioural well-being within the school environment. The role involves identifying students who may require additional support, providing appropriate interventions, working closely with parents and teachers, and coordinating with relevant internal and external professionals to ensure students receive the support they need to succeed academically and personally.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Student Support
• Provide individual and group support to students experiencing social, emotional, behavioural, or family-related difficulties.
• Assess students’ social and emotional needs and identify appropriate support strategies.
• Monitor students who may be at risk of disengagement, social isolation, behavioural difficulties, or other challenges affecting their education.
• Develop and implement appropriate support plans in cooperation with relevant staff.
• Maintain regular follow-up with students and evaluate the effectiveness of interventions.
• Promote students’ well-being, resilience, positive relationships, and social skills.
2. Collaboration with Teachers and School Staff
• Work closely with teachers, class teachers, school counsellors, psychologists, and management to identify and address student needs.
• Provide guidance to teachers regarding appropriate strategies for supporting students with social or behavioural difficulties.
• Participate in relevant student support meetings and case discussions.
• Contribute to the development of individual support strategies where appropriate.
3. Parent and Family Support
• Communicate with parents regarding students’ social, emotional, behavioural, or family-related needs.
• Conduct meetings with parents when appropriate and provide guidance regarding available support.
• Help families access appropriate external services and professional support when required.
• Maintain professional and constructive relationships with parents and guardians.
4. Case Management and Documentation
• Maintain accurate, confidential, and up-to-date records of student cases, interventions, meetings, and follow-ups.
• Monitor individual cases and ensure that agreed actions are followed through.
• Prepare reports and documentation when required by school management or relevant authorities.
• Ensure that all documentation complies with school policies and confidentiality requirements.
Qualifications and Experience
• Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Social Sciences, Psychology, Education, or a related field.
• Professional experience working with children or adolescents, preferably in a school or educational setting.
• Knowledge of child development, safeguarding, social-emotional well-being, and behavioural support.
• Experience in case management and working with families is desirable.
• Experience working in an international or multicultural school environment.
• Fluency in English; knowledge of German is an advantage.
